BAROQUE
ROME TOUR
Piazza
di Spagna, Fontana di Trevi, Pantheon, Piazza Navona,
Your
local guide will take you on a pleasant stroll through BAROQUE ROME,
where you can admire the Spanish steps, probably the most beautiful
staircase ever built, projected by Specchi in 1732 to connect the
Church of Trinità dei Monti at the top to Piazza di Spagna at the
bottom where the “Barcaccia fountain” by P.Bernini.lies.
Next to the Spanish Steps, along the Via Condotti, you can see
Rome’s most exclusive designer and jewellery shops.
At Fontana dei Trevi, your guide will explain why we toss a
coin into the fountain. This baroque style jewel, familiar to us
thanks to movies such as “Roman holiday”," La dolce vita”
and “3 coins in the fountain” was built in 1735 to commemorate
the restoration of the Virgin water aqueduct.
Crossing Via del Corso continuing on to Emperor Hadrian’s temple,
better known as the Pantheon.
The Pantheon, whose dome inspired all the renaissance artists, is
the most incredible standing ancient Roman temple where Raphael is
buried.
To end our tour we will stop at Piazza Navona, where you will see
the ruins of the ancient Domitian stadium, admire Bernini’s famous
fountains and Borromini’s Santa Agnese church.
