Leaving Rome early in the morning we will cross the northern part of the Lazio region, leaving the highway at Orte until we reach Assisi.

Assisi is the famous town of St Francis, which still maintains its medieval aspect with its ancient city walls, next to Mount Sublasio with its houses built in the typical local rose coloured stone.

Walking through its narrow alleys it we can imagine what it must have been like in the Middle Ages..

We will visit Santa Maria degli Angeli and the Basilica of St.Francis, which was built upon St. Francis’s tomb and is divided into 2 different levels, each rich with frescos with masterpieces by Giotto e Cimabue.

After the terrible hearthquake of 1997 it's a real miracle that is still possible to see such incredible frescoes.

After the visit, we will start our way back to Rome.
